Refund, Deferral & Name Change Policy
We understand that plans can change. Our policy aims to balance fairness to runners with the operational and financial demands of organising a high-quality, volunteer-supported event.
❌ Refund Policy
We do not offer refunds unless you have purchased Refundable.me insurance when registering through our ticketing partner, World’s Marathons. This insurance is managed by a separate company, and all claims must be submitted directly to them.
This policy is fully consistent with EU consumer protection law, which recognises that event tickets are exempt from the 14-day cooling-off period due to the time-specific nature of the service.
No exceptions can be made to this policy, including for injury, illness, or travel disruption, if no insurance was purchased at the time of registration.
🔁 Deferral Policy
- You may defer your entry to the 2026 event up to 30 days before race day.
- Deferrals apply only to the same race distance (Marathon or Half-Marathon).
- Deferrals are non-transferable to another person or to a different race.
- A €15 admin fee applies.
To request a deferral, email us with your registration details before the cut-off date. No deferral requests will be accepted after this time.
👥 Name Changes (Bib Transfers)
- You may transfer your bib to another runner up to 14 days before race day.
- A €15 admin fee applies for all name changes.
- The new runner must agree to all event terms and conditions during the process.
🛠️ Why These Policies?
As a locally organised event, we incur substantial up-front costs long before race day: permits, insurance, signage, timing, T-shirts, medals, transport, and more. This policy helps ensure a financially stable event while offering fair flexibility where we can.
The small admin fees for deferrals and name changes help offset the real manual workload involved in processing these changes behind the scenes.
💬 Why Do We Charge Admin Fees?
Each name change or deferral requires manual clerical work: updating registration databases, modifying insurance lists, bib preparation, and other back-end tasks. These small admin fees help cover the cost of this labour-intensive process so we can continue to keep race entry fees low for everyone.
