race distances

We offer two distances as part of the Glendalough Lap of the Gap Marathon event: the Lap of the Gap full marathon and the Glen to Glen Half-Marathon. Each route has something unique to offer but both begin in the Glendalough area and finish at the Brockagh Centre in Laragh village. Read more about the two races below.

LAP OF THE GAP MARATHON

Shaped like a diamond with a tail our full marathon goes from Glendalough to Sallygap at 504 metres and back to Laragh village. 42.2 km with 800m elevation.

GLEN TO GLEN HALF-MARATHON

The half-marathon takes in a scenic lap of the Upper Lake Park in Glendalough before joining the marathon course until Glenmacnass Waterfall and turning back to Laragh. 21.1 km with 340m elevation.

GLENDALOUGH 3 MILE (DISCONTINUED)

An introductory event introduced in 2018 which ran for two years before being discontinued as we felt it was better to focus our resources on the two main vents.

Hanh.

“Scenic route, low crowd, quiet peaceful run through green, lush rolling hills, with views of sheep, cows, golden yellow furze, and the Glenmacness waterfall near the top of the half marathon where you turn around for the second half. Gradual incline and there was a stretch of climb toward waterfall which wasn’t too bad. I managed to PR a little less than two :). If I lived in Ireland, definitely would do it again, and check out Dingle’s marathon! Small crowd, very helpful volunteers, yummy snacks and goodies post race. Maybe some music at the end to pump up runners and celebrate ;). Every one was so friendly. Definitely recommend. Wicklow is a nice area to explore.”
