An hour from Dublin, and a world away
Glendalough sits in a glacial valley in Co. Wicklow, about 50km south of Dublin Airport. Most runners make a weekend of it.
Coming from abroad
Around forty nationalities line up each year. If you are flying in, arrive Thursday or Friday — the race starts early and the road up is quiet at that hour for a reason.
Dublin Airport to Wicklow
Roughly 75 minutes by car. Public transport requires a change in Dublin city; a hire car or the race bus is simpler.
Staying in Dublin
Perfectly workable if you book the race-day coach to Race HQ and back. Recommended for anyone without a car.
Staying in Laragh or Glendalough
Hotels, guesthouses, hostel and self-catering cottages in the valley. Race weekend is also peak walking season — book early.
Camping and campervans
Wild camping is not permitted in the national park. Use a licensed site in the surrounding area.
